Abstract :
Background. More people use formula to feed their babies in Indonesia rather than do an exclusive breastmilk. From some research that had been done to some babies who have formula, they gain weight faster than the babies who got breastfeeding. Purpose. To know the weight differences between babies with breastmilk and babies with formula. Analytical design of this study use primary data that is taken from 60 checklist pages of respondents and secondary data from baby’s KMS simple random sampling. The research was done in the working area of Bawolato Public Health Center. The sample are babies in age 7-12 months who had breastfeeding and formula since they were born. Results. Usually the weight of the babies in age 0-6 months who had breastfeeding is 7,500 kilogram those the babies with formula they gain weight around 7.590 kilogram. In the age of 7-12 months, babies with breastfeeding gain 8.933 kg while babies with formula powder gain 9.937 kg. From the result of t test of babies in age 0-6 months is Ï = 0.103 (Ï> α ) and the weight of babies in age 7-12 months is Ï = 0.000 (Ï <α). Conclusion. There is no weight differences between babies in age 0 to 6 months with breastfeeding and formula and there are weight differences between babies in age 7 to 12 months with breastfeeding and formula. Suggestion. It is suggested to the people who works in this area to do monitoring of babies weight regulary and parents participation to give an exclusive breastfeeding to their babies.
