Abstrak : Background . Anxiety in labor is generally experienced by birth mothers . This anxiety is affected by the first stage of labor . In the course of labor maternal psychological disorder is anxiety which, according to Mc Nerney and Grenberg mention anxiety is a reaction to a physical , mental , and chemicals from the body of the scary situation , surprising , confusing , dangerous and troubling one . Objective To analyze the relationship between maternal anxiety levels with the first stage of labor in Lotu Regional Health Center . Research Design . Analytic observational cross-sectional approach . Samples were taken with probality technique and accidental sampling totaling 60 people . The instrument used is the observation sheet . Research all women who undergo childbirth experience anxiety with the anxiety level in the category : 1.7 % mild anxiety , anxiety was 28.3 % , 70.0 % severe anxiety . The Conclusion . There is a relationship with the first stage of labor in North Nias Regional Health Center Lotu 2014 with a probability value = 0.000 keceil of the value of α = 0.05 . Suggestions . Health workers should provide counseling and counseling to the mother so much mental preparedness in the face of labor .
